WDF & Five Star Merge

WDF, Inc., New York City's largest mechanical and plumbing contractor, has merged with Five Star Electric Corp, the City's largest electrical contractor, to form one of the most prominent, full-service MEP firms in the Northeast, according to their CEOs, WDF's Lawrence Roman and Five Star's Gary Segal.

This merger is not only merger of companies, but it is also a merger of friends.

Larry Roman and Gary Segal have been friends and business associates for over 25 years. Through those years, they each have taken their family businesses to new heights, and today is no different.

"This merger will allow us to get the requisite bonding on the very large projects currently out for bid. It will also allow us to offer our clients a complete MEP package at a competitive price, with the ability to provide the massive coordination effort for the plumbing, HVAC and electrical in a manner that is in the best interest of the project" said Segal.

Roman added, "With the recent hire of Joseph LoCurto as WDF's new President, Joe will bring his 40 years of unparalleled New York City construction experience to this venture. The former President of Slattery Skanska, Joe also has been friends and business associates with Gary and myself for over 20 years."

Both Larry and Joe are past Presidents of the Subcontractors Trade Association and Gary is currently the Vice President of the organization and is slated to assume the Presidency in 2010. Both Five Star and WDF will retain and operate under their individual company names. Presently, the parent company will be called WDF/Five Star Holding Corporation.

"The challenge we face of continuing our success in this industry is focusing our efforts on today and into the future; that is why we strongly believe in this synergy and look forward to a seamless transition in this new endeavor" said Stephen H. Kornfeld, the CEO of the Holding Corp.
